How Aware Helped a Utility Provider Reduce Insider Threats During Business Acquisitions

Aware was critical in helping us understand how our employees handled the transition period following a merger, as well as helping us roll out Workplace and Teams safely and securely across two new companies we acquired.

Mitigate risks during mergers and acquistions

Problem

Following the acquisition of two smaller companies, the information security team at this large utility provider raised concerns about data sharing. Specifically, infosec worried about the potential for sensitive information and trademark data being shared within collaboration tools. However, removing or delaying integration with these tools had the potential to harm productivity or impact employee integration post-merger.

The provider immediately implemented Aware to alleviate infosec’s concerns. First, compliance monitoring preserved trademark information during the merger. Then Aware’s advanced rules-based monitoring features helped highlight sensitive data within the collaboration environment in real time, shielding the business from risk and keeping the merger on schedule.

Solution

Thanks to intelligent automations from Aware, senior leadership gained confidence in the roll out of business-critical collaboration tools during the merger transition period. Information security concerns were alleviated, and the business moved forward with increased assurance in the security of their collaboration tool choices.

Aware was critical in helping us understand how our employees handled the transition period following a merger, as well as helping us roll out Workplace and Teams safely and securely across two new companies we acquired.
